Re: What will a new immigrant earn?
can only go by my experience
Carpenters ( provincialy or red Tag qualified) 18-27 hr
non qualified but experienced 14.oo+
1981 I used to get 23.50???
my wife is a cook in a resteraunt 25 years plus experince, union shop 14.00 hr ( starting wage is minimum wage )
Last year was back in Scotland I found in most cases that you payed in pounds what we pay in Canada in dollars
by the way my old boss offerd me a job in Scotland at 16.00 pounds per hour plus benifits, car and seven weeks (49days) hollidays a year,he's got work lined up for the next year and a bit.
in 1980-81 I was getting 1.70 ish
I did find that in the rural area where we lived that the standard of living had vastly improved.though the pace of life had also seemed to be a way faster.
last year had to change a front door for my parents, went to swap the lock and they didn't know where the key was, so had to buy a new lockset. things have really changed.
