What is hell is wrong with everybody just lately on here?
There's some really negative people on this forum,
if there not slagging Canada off there slagging the UK off If not the UK its OZ or New Zealand.
Come on for god sake get a bloody grip
People come on here for help and advice not to be board to death by people having personal slanging matches.
If you happy with your choice in life then for god sake get on with it and stop giving each other grief.
We decided Canada wasn't for us we came back and we're living a very good life back in the UK, My kids walk to school without been beaten to a pulp, i work in my local city centre I've not been robbed or beaten half to death by chavs my girl's are well behaved they go to a good school that doesn't tolerate bullying they have an extensive group of both male and female friends who are all well behaved,we're not terrorised by drug addicts
we're only p****d off by the amount of small minded people who preach that the grass is greener on their side
Well take it from someone who knows
ITS NOT ALWAYS GREENER and some of you may end eating your words which has been done many times on this website before

Its human nature innit?
Sometimes what one person sees as negativity another sees as reality. There is no place for rose tinted glasses in the emmigration process.

Hi Shelley
I actually thought that the last few months this forum has become more upbeat and way less negative. I did wonder if one of the trolls was back with a few posts last week which did lead to a rise in negative postings
I've been here 5 years, only been on this board for 2, and I have found some cracking advice and suggestions
I don't know if the grass is greener - I think it is more a different shade and mown differently

Honestly, these forums seem - the returning to the UK one in particular - to be the most bitter ones on the internet.
I think it's because it's such a huge decision that changes people's lives so very much that an enormous amount of self-justification is required, right from day one.
People may start wanting to emigrate just because they quite fancy the adventure but by the time they end up going seem often to have convinced themselves that (say) the UK is the very worst place in the world and that (say) Canada is the very best. If it doesn't work out, this very quickly reverses until (say) the UK is surely the very best utopian destination on the planet, no-one would possibly have a valid reason for wanting to leave and all you people who aren't going back must be lunatics. Or something.
The process is often so long/expensive/emotionally involving it's very easy to get entrenched in all this and I think it's best for the blood pressure to just flit in and out of these forums
We're moving to Canada (medical results pending, touch wood), having lived there before on a temporary basis, but will always love the UK. There's time in our lives for both, horses for courses
Edit: of course, it also may be the case that people who are happiest in their lives having moved, not moved, moved back or whatever, don't want to post about it on internet forums quite as much as those with something to get off their chests. Cheers to the regulars though, lots of good advice in amongst the sparring

So far my experience of Canada has been good. I find the people a little friendly and the service in shops, restaurants, banks etc a little better than i have found in citys in the UK ( from my personal experience ).
The weather is much better here, with more defined seasons than the UK which suits us.
I prefer the UKs method of pricing where what you see for the product/service is generally what you pay.
There are pluses and minus for both countries but we have already been talking about where we can move to next. Not until we are retirement age though, maybe Mexico, who knows!

We came to canada in the hope of giving our children and us a better future. We certainly did not hate living in the UK, there were things we wanted to improve though..... things like.....
no more 45 min commute for hubby,
lot's more outdoor activities for us and the children to get involved with,
hoping that when the children got to their teens they had more to look forward to than ' how soon they could get served in a bar '
I also believe it's about being positive and wanting to be part of where you are.....we certainly want to blend in and NOT stick out. When in Rome and all that!!!!!

Having lived in Canada for 10 years and came back to live in the UK (5 years ago). We have now decided that we are going back to TO
In our opinion it has a far better way of live other there. More open space for our kids, certainly less chavs, (well at least from what I can remember), a bigger house for little more than what we have just sold our house for. (converted to dollars of course) and no 25 year morgage hanging round your neck.
Of course there are many other reasons, but I won't bore you with them.

Did I miss something? I haven't seen a lot of negative stuff or opinion-bashing for awhile. Don't know what's got your knickers in a twist, Shelly but as I'm not in here every day maybe something did get past me. I just view the topics that look interesting to me.

With this process, it's endless waiting, it's total commitment, it's sheer insanity, there is not only a need for Rose-tinted glasses but Rose-tinted mindset, Rose-tinted expectations, Rose-tinted bloody mindedness. In fact, invest heavily in stained glass manufacturers for it will reap a mighty return.
Otherwise you may as well stay in that boring but cushy council job, run that efficient but unglamorous Ford and produce the 2.5 weans and retire with a nice clock and sit on your decking until you pop off.
Hey, I'll have changed my mind tomorrow.
