What about safety? The driver will need all his attention driving the bus safely through London and cannot be distracted by stupid questions from passengers.
Just a guess from a (former) dutch coach driver.......
Seriously, would like top if everything works out, but everything is very much up in the air!!!!! We have a friend in Hamburg that we're hoping to meet up with......but of course, if we do meet with you....we expect a tour of the less cheesy side of town!!!!!!

Listen, I'm best at going "on and on" and on" - until I get a explanation - a very bad trait of mine - very annoying at the best of times. Good thing I do have some good traits as well!!!!

Must be a female thing. Is also one of the reasons that my relationship with my ex got worse and worse.

You mean just like the male species are "smart-ass"

What I meant was that I sometimes go a "little crazy" about somethings.....my husband/I grew up together, so he is very use to my craziness.....and handles it very well......he just remains very calm and laughs at me - which initially makes me even more crazy.....but eventually believe it or not....i do settle down again. Unfortunately, my little girl is exactly like her mom (poor thing)

Hi,
I am new to this site, but feel that I would like to throw my hat in the ring.
I have been to both Canada (just been granted my visa after a 3 1/2 year wait) and to Australia ( where I married my Australian girlfriend). I am now in the position where I have to choose which country I would like to go and live in.
Both Canada and Oz offer a significantly better quality of life than the UK. The cost of living is lower, particularly housing, which is an important factor for all of us. The people are friendly and helpful. They are both clean, litter free and crime is alot lower than here.
After much discussion with Kate, we have opted to go with Canada. The main reason being that Canada is cheaper than even Oz. Canada is about 50% where Oz is around 80% the cost of living compared to the UK. Our money will go much further in Canada. Also it is easier for friends and family to get to. (The flight to Oz was a killer.)
Of course Oz has the weather going for it. If you like it hot and dry then go. for it. Parts of Oz have had no significant rainfall for over 2 years.
If you are still not sure then do what we did and go to both countries for holidays and then take it from there.
I noted that this discussion has devolved into a debate on yobs. I have resisited hard not to get all worked up and distracted!
Regards, Mick.

Hello Mick

You are right to have chosen canada, like you said, its closer for friends and relatives to come visit you, oz is 24hrs away from the uk, and the flight is a killer, I know that for sure :scared:

You are a lucky guy though, to have both choices, some people on here will kill for that, and they are probably envious of you right now 3.5 yrs you say for the visa, under what class did you apply?

Where in canada are you hoping to settle in? Trust me, there are yobs/trouble makers here, but not on the same scale as the uk, housing is a lot cheaper like you said, but we are talking wooden houses here rather than solid brick all round, if all houses were built with brick here, they won't be selling for the prices they are.

Best of luck

Beware though, its very tempting to compare what your UK income would buy in either canada or oz, but the reality is that unless you have an independent UK income, you will be paid in canadian dollars at canadian levels, and thats not nearly as enticing!

Hi,
oh yeah, I know that direct comparasions can be misleading. However, on my UK salary I can at the moment only afford a small badly built brand new 3 bed house with next to no garden. With what I could earn in Canada I could have a large 4 bed house with 2 bathrooms on a sizeable plot. I spend my evenings wistfully perusing the Canadian realestate sites!
I am trying not to sound too materialistic, all I want is a decent quality of life and a nice house, which I currently can't achieve here in the UK.

Squrepants.
I applied under a Skilled visa. However, I am a Policeman. I was caught in a No job so no visa with the CHC and a No visa so no job offer with the Canadian Police services. It was delayed as well with all the rule changes that took place. In the end I qualified on points alone.
But I am still not home and dry. Kate now needs a visa as CHC will not let me go on ahead and sponser her when I am settled in Canada which was the plan. ALSO, I have 2 stepdaughters, so at some point (they don't know our plans yet) we have to tell their Dad...

Hey its all fun and it makes you stronger, or so they say.

Regards, Mick.

You still have to take the police tests here anyway, and there are a whole lot of other issues you have to get pass. This is a place to discuss housing matters, we have found it very useful.

You can get a 4 bedroom house for 210k cnd, depending on where you want to live, the further you go away from Toronto here in ontario, the more you get for your money, and for that price, you will get 2 bathroom and a half, a basement, double garage maybe, in a nice neighbourhood.

What's that? 2 bathroom and a half?

Are that 2 bathrooms with running hot AND cold water and 1 bathroom with only cold water, or what?

A half bathroom is a polite way of saying it's just got a toilet and washbasin

You still haven't answered the question someone was asking you, how long have you been here? I'll explain to you what that is, its simply an ensuite bath-tub in the master bedroom, another bathroom down the hall way, and a shower in the ensuite bathroom, or the one down the hall way.

Look in the new homes magazines, and its all explained there.
