What do you LIKE about Canada?
Just thought I would try to start a really positive thread about all the things we love about Canada
I love the people (so laid back - at least on the Island), the scenery and the general feeling of contentment that I and my family feel

The beaver (hey, national symbol!), the moose, the prairie dogs.

The abundance of wide open space and uncongested roads (at least where I am) that mean it doesn't take me an hour to travel a mile in rush hour

Big houses, beautiful summer, lots of natural parks and lakes, poutine, nice people, more relaxing than in the UK, cheap petrol, Costco membership open to anyone, cheaper seafood

hmmm... the friendly people.. i cant get out of the bank for them chatting so much and everyone remembers you! I love that I can see the mountains from my apartment window and that I am close to everything yet there is so much space with beautiful scenery. And I love the cakes in Pricesmart and Safeway!!

I love the scenery - we live in North Vancouver and the view coming over from downtown is out of this world with the mountains ringing the horizon.
I love the people, although Canadians seem to take everything totally literally which is strange, and I really like the lack of pressure on children. In the UK it's all ofsted this, standards that, and my son's preschool here is very laid back, letting them just play and enjoy being kids, with less emphasis on learning stuff and reaching milestones, and more on just having fun and socialising/sharing. Incidentally, he loves it!
Finally, I love the fact that there is so much to do really close to where we live - skiing, sailing, kajaking, Stanley Park etc etc - oh, and I can dream about living in Deep Cove one day when my ship comes in as it is beautiful.....
The only downside is missing family, friends and the familiarity of the UK - these are big pulls and should not be underestimated.

Re: What do you LIKE about Canada?
For me it boils down to the climate and no I don't love the weather itself, the humidity in the summer is horrible as can be the -25c temps. in the winter.
But the climate does offer great opportunities summer and winter. For my kids the swimming in the local outdoor pool and the kayaking on the lake at the end of the road makes the summer. And in the winter being able to ski and snowboard every weekend.
Other than that..................nothing really

Prices.
Mostly straight and wide roads.
No speed cameras - If you're caught speeding it's by a cop who can also watch for idiot drivers who aren't speeding.
The weather - Less rain and much more snow.
Friendly people.
