Life aint a bed of roses. Trolls - (or whatever you refer to certain section as) I am not knocking their thoughts or lack of them. Indeed ignorance is bliss often and my wife often tells me that many people refuse to think openley as it will more than likely be upsetting. Often I wish I did not ponder quite so much. Most people who REALLY MOAN are the educated/semi-educated middle earners. Huge numbers just sit there and let economic events pass them by.

The sales taxes in Canada include the Provincial Sales Tax which differs by province and varies from 0% in Alberta to 10% in PEI so if you're really hung up on the amount of tax you can move to another province. If you don't like the tax in the UK where do you move to?

It's rather a silly question, is it not ? Do we know that the method of displaying the tax content of retail prices is a significant factor in human migration ? Is there a single recorded case of someone moving in order to be in a place where sales tax is displayed differently ?

If people are, in fact, motivated to shape their lives around this issue then why not move to Nevada ? We're assuming a very low level of intellect, after all these people need the tax spelled out, so an English speaking jurisdiction might be easier than a European destination requiring that a new language be learned.

This made me smile and think about several people who run their entire lives cross referenced with spread sheets.

Provincial tax rates can also vary within a province - BC examples; PST on a wine glass is 7%, PST on the wine to pour in it is 10%. The PST for a pair of size 6 shoes for me is 7%, the PST for a pair of size 6 shoes for my 14 year old niece 0%. She buys a lot of shoes .

I personally prefer to see how sales taxes are charged because it's not always clear-cut; they vary and change. Even now, I'm not entirely sure if my above examples are up to date, I've been away for a while.

Hi. Have been there and looked a promising place to start. I will certainly keep people informed and of course your good self. I think Eddie is soon off to have a peak. If and when we get there and get set-up back on here (if the wife lets me) feel free to bother me.

My wife within a few minutes of being in the city felt very settled. We stayed in or visited many towns between Toronto and Windsor and round the bay to Niagra. It seems to offer what we need as of the next few years....then who knows?

Got to get VISA first!

Paul,

I can see why your wife would have liked it there, mine also likes it, and we occassional drive down there, and to the neighbouring towns, on a day out sort of thing with the kids.

At the end, it came down to being closer to our jobs. Are you coming on work permit, or as an entrepreneur?

There seems to be a freudian slip. It's "Niagara" not like "Viagra"
