Been here in Canada 7 years
and it will NEVER be home to me, I always refer to England as home, I never even say our apartment is home, I just avoid saying it.
ATM I am thinking of being here on an extended holiday as I am so desperate to get back this year at least.
We were on holiday in Germany end of November and people asked where I come from and I immediately said England, it was the 1st thing that came out of my mouth, my husband gave me funny looks
So the question here is Canada home to you?

Been here a little under 3 years and absolutely call it home. Visited England numerous times since and always feel out of place.

Canada in general and Calgary in particular is very definitely home for me.

As an ex soldier home was always where the suitcase and kitbag was.
They are downstairs in the basement and Garden View Drive, Island View New Brunswick is definitely home for me.

Home the building where the family is, is obviously here. But Home the sentimental place is Scotland. The shortbread tin kind of romanticised Scotland that I never even set foot in... how did that happen?!

home is Toronto, it has been since the first night I stayed here as a BUNAC participant at 21, all the holidays before then just made a good impression but that night, for the first time ever I felt at home, but I am Scottish and it will always be the place that raised me

Home is where I live with my family so it's here in Nova Scotia.
However, I always say 'back home' when referring to Scotland. It is where I was born and lived for over 40 years so I probably always refer to it that way. It doesn't mean that I haven't settled over here though.
Most people who move away from their birthplace will always carry a piece of it in their heart.

Home is here on Vancouver Island. I went back to England for a 2 week holiday in the Summer, after being here 3 1/2 years, and couldn't imagine living there now. All I looked forward to was the return flight home to Canada. Home is definitely here.

I've only been here since Sept 07 and I'm Welsh,
but when someone hear's my accent and asks me where I'm from I say Regina Beach first, cos that is my home.

I think since starting school he's had it drummed into him (and not by us) that's he's "from Scotland" so that's his stock reply now. That'll be equally confusing if he's still saying it when his Canadian accent has taken hold.

My kid did that, he used to say he was from Winnipeg when asked - you could see the confused look on people's faces

. In he beginning I used to say it for devilment cos they just don't have the same sarcastic sense of humour over here that they have in Wales

Home is England,
Looking forward to going back in 09. Canada is great for a holiday, and I'll always be connected in some way as my wife is Canadian, but home is home.

Whilst I am not in Canada, I am from the North East and living in Yorkshire, I still call Hartlepool home, where all of my family live, and I guess I will continue to call it home when we get to Canada too.
That said, I am hoping I won't miss it all too much when we finally fly the UK nest....
