Not so my friend, this firm is very relaxed and, unless I am in court, I wear the "standard Canadian attire" of plaid (never thought I'd see the day), jeans and walking shoes. I feel really comfortable but look like a complete p***k - when in Rome.....

One thought prompted by a quick look at that one is that people who can clearly win by moving to Canada are those from places where there is discrimination or conflict between groups who are a tiny minority here. For example, I knew people here in the 80s who were from Nothern Ireland, then not a comfortable place to be, here a viable one because the chance of meeting someone from there who belonged to the other faction and hadn't left the conflict behind was miniscule. Much the same would be true of Cypriots, Ceylonese and, I'm sure people from many other nations.
Moving to Canada is less clearly a win for people who had it good before but who didn't know what they had.

in my completely uneducated about this subject opinion - how many people come across a native in their day to day lives just going about their business?
My guess would be lots but no-one would think twice as they are just people, doing people stuff.
Now - (and please Butch or anyone don't jump down my throat because I am using an obvious example / stereotype) if you see a drunken native walking in the middle of the road - how many people will you mention it to? My guess at least a couple.
So my point is don't jump to conclusions about any race of people there are good and bad, sensible and tw@ts, charitable and selfish in any walk of life.
Yes I have a close friend who is metis and many customers at the bank who are just wonderful.
