What To Do About Girlfriends Contraceptive Injection Whilst In Canada?
Hi everyone,
We will be coming to BC for a couple of years next summer and in England my girlfriend is on the 'Depo' jab (contraceptive injection) once every 12 weeks. Can she continue this in Canada? and how much would it cost?
Thanks in advance!
Rich.

The injection needs to be given in a clinic or hospital by a doctor or nurse. Sexual Health Centre Saskatoon sells Depo Provera and has a nurse inject it after a consultation with the nurse and doctor. The cost of the injection at Sexual Health Centre Saskatoon is $15. Because Depo Provera often causes loss or lightening of menstrual bleeding, it is recommended that women do a pregnancy test prior to each injection.

Hi,
I am a sexual Health Nurse in Victoria. I work here
http://www.islandsexualhealth.org/
We charge $25 for a dose of Depo. If a patient has no BC medical, one of the nurses can always see them and then there is no charge for the visit.
Hope this helps.

I'm not lost, but really curious - what on earth did you people say? Might be better if you don't answer that or someone will have to invoke rule 2 again.

May I go slightly off topic and ask what about the pill? I am on it and would like to stay on it but do I have to pay for it in Canada? And do I still need it to be prescribed by a Doctor?

If you do not have medical insurance cover from your employer, it is roughly $30-$0 for a 3 month supply of the pill. I get mine prescribed by a Dr, but I dont know about anybody else.
But tell your UK Dr you are going abroad and they should give you a longer supply.
