Default What can't you put in your container?

Does anyone know if there is a detailed list of things that can't be imported into Canada when you immigrate. I've found info about foodstuffs, narcotics etc and I've found stuff about washing bikes, garden furniture and tools. I was thinking more of things like wood glue, putty, WD40, silicone sealants. Basically all the stuff I've accumulated over the last 20 years of tinkering. I know our shipping company won't allow paint, but is there a list of other stuff that can't be taken? I'd hate to leave it all behind then find I could have taken it. I don't seem to be able to find anything specific on the CBSA website.

Many thanks as always for any information.

You can buy all that stuff here We did not take anything like that; better to be safe than sorry. Did not fancy having the container unloaded on the dock and then having to pay $500 to get it all cleaned and put back in. We were told that we could not take anything that was made of wicker, like chairs, baskets etc. My Oh cleaned all our gardening stuff and then coated with a sealant to make sure that nothing was going to get in or out.

On a down note, our container became immersed in water and we lost a lot of stuff through mold - if you can wrap pictures/paintings up.

BTW intruiged by your log on - we used to live near Rivington Pike in Bolton.'
Have fun with the packing

That's the one. It's where I was born; one of the last houses before the Pike.

When you say wicker do you mean only wicker or rattan, seagrass, bananaleaf etc?

Thanks

I had a large collection of supplies in our garage and the removers would not pack anything that had a hazardous label on the container or oils, including WD40. This I found rather strange as they were putting a vehicle in the container with several gallons of petrol, oil and other hazardous liquids in side!!

We didn't bring anything from the garden as we were told it was risky as this may cause the container to be emptied and inspected for soil (at our expense).

We were told this and I called tosh on it. Their reason was that it was made from plants. My reason for calling tosh was that wood, cotton and clothing, carpets and so on are also originally plants.

We bought our wicker furniture with no problems.

We bought our wicker chairs as well - no problem. If you have any dried flowers be careful, as they dont like anything that has seeds. If you are packing a christmas tree make sure it says, artificial. I have seen containers inspected because some bright spark thinks its a real tree. One poor soul had to pay $1500 for the inspection. Its all the luck of the draw, if you can gets pulled for inspection or not.
