Hiya
Found out about this site recently, what an amazing source of info and support. we applied for PR skilled visa Mar 05 and I did it all myself.. would have been great to have known about this site then just to bounce around some of my concerns.
We have just got asked for our medicals. It feels like we have been waiting forever and to be honest I am having serious doubts about going. This site is great though because everyone seems so enthuisatic about going.
My OH is a teacher and until reading this site, I didn't realise he would have any trouble getting a job. He teaches maths secondary level, really hoping its a shortage subject so he gets a chance of a job!
If any one has any advice about the teaching profession I would really appreciate it
Cheers

Welcome.
There is certainly a shortage of qualified maths teachers. The trick is to apply to the provincial body well in advance to get teaching qualifications recognised, and to not be too proud to take anything offered at first to get a foot in the door.
There are a few teachers around, so maybe one of them will chip in.
When were you last in Canada? Maybe its time for another visit to refesh that enthusiasm to go for it

cheers for that,
we visited dec 05 and have been a couple of times before in the summer. We had our mind set on settling north of toronto but my hubby fancies the other side of canada now BC or Alberta ( which we havent visited). If we get the visa we will go next summer but not sure where will go, may spend the summer exploring.

zidak - I'm an elementary school teacher in a northern BC town. If you have any questions about getting certified to teach or finding a job in BC, just ask. I'm glad to help!
