Do kids start school in Ontario?
And if my husband just has a work permit will we have to pay for schooling?
We are hoping to get a years work permit through Bunac, if we decide to stay how long does it take to get another work permit & will he have to apply for one before the other one ends?
Thanks in advance

My visa through BUNAC (1999) was non-renewable, non-extendable. After a year with the same company they decided to apply for a work permit on my behalf and have me stay another year. I think this was an unusual situation though, it's not easy to find an employer that will do that for you. If you want to live/work in Canada permanently you'll have to apply for permanent residency.
I didn't realise you could bring dependants with you on a BUNAC visa. It is a restricted visa. BUNAC should be able to give you more conditions though.
I'm not sure about the schooling. Here in Quebec I think you have to be 5 by 30th September for the first school year.

Ontario has "junior kindergarten" which starts at age 4, though I am not sure if this is mandatory. In all other provinces children start school at age 5.

It sounds very much like "Reception" year here, which isn't compulsory.
Daughter is only 2 1/2 years old so we won't have to worry too much yet.
Thanks

There are definitely different rules for people working over here with the one year visa. (For example in BC you can't get onto the Medical Services Plan if you come via BUNAC).
Definitely worth checking with the school district - fingers crossed that you will be ok!
