We're Landed!!!

Well we landed in Halifax on Saturday and became permanent residents. As other people have previously said, it was all painless and quick. The longest wait we had at the airport was waiting at the thrifty desk while someone spent AGES trying to decide which hire car to choose.
We didn't have to prove our funds but they did ask us how much we had. They also changed my place of birth on the COPR form from England to Wales. The friendly lady at the customs desk seemed really pleased that we had a subtotal for our goods at the end of each page with a grand total at the end. She said that she gets lots of goods lists done wrongly. For anyone about to draft their own lists we followed the Wiki and it was really useful.
My husbad had two interviews on Monday in the Woodstock NB area. They both went well and we think that at least one of them will result in a job offer
. While he had his interviews I viewed some properties to get a feel for what the area was like and what sort of properties are available. I'm quite impressed with the area. Woodstock is not the most attractive town but it does have really good amenities for the size and Fredericton is only 40 mins down the road. The river valley is absolutely gorgeous though and I did view one property which I absolutely fell in love with. Before going to Woodstock I was quite determined that Halifax was the only area that would offer us what we wanted out of our new life in Canada but the succesful trip to Woodstock has made me question this view. We are keeping an open mind about the rest of our trip so I don't prejudice areas before I visit them.
We are now off back to Nova Scotia for some more interviews. Our tour of Nova Scotia finishes with Halifax next week and we have scheduled to view some properties with two realtors.
So far though the trip have been positive and I can't wait to get home and finish off the house sale so we can get back out here permanently.
Just remembered one negative point of the trip. I went to Tim Hortons on Monday for the first time. So many people rave about the place so had to try it. Well I can safely say I will not be visiting them again. The coffee was awful
and the sandwich was not that great either. How can you get a simple regular coffee so wrong?

Well done and congratulations to you both!!
We also got comments on the GTF list, and how much easier it made for the IO when the page and grand totals were in place!
Glad to hear the interviews went well. We didn't get much time in NB so would be interested to hear more.
Have a great time having a look round NS and hope you find what you want!
