A rather grubby store selling tat does seem a curious place to hang out. I suppose it'd be ok if it was part of an exhibitionist stunt but otherwise I can't see that there's pleasure in going in, nevermind spending a whole afternoon there.

Of course. I've been to the Zellers in the Welfare Mall and the one at Vic Park and Danforth. I've lived you know.

While I think of it Len Duckworth's on the north side of Danforth just east of Main has the best fish and chips near you now that the Nova has gone. Also the Loblaws at Vic Park and Gerrard keeps a much wider range of goods than most stores (Vegemite and Purmite as well as the obvious) and, unusually for the east end, is quite clean inside.
