Default welsh newbie

hello everyone this is my first time writing in any form of forum so i may be a bit slow in replying, and quite possibly i will be asking for lots and lots if help/advice/guidence. where to begin, well i'm married with twin girls (10) living in south wales but doing all we can to change that, hopefully it will be alberta.
my wife and i have been talking about going to canada since i left the forces but to be honest at the time niether of us felt that we had the right work experence to apply. now we are at the stage in our lives where we want to give it a go (nothing ventured and all that)
I'm a paramedic and my wife is a learning support assistant working with children with special needs(autism) we are hoping to get employment in alberta in these fields. So any advice would be gratefully recieved.
we are going over to alberta for the whole of august!!!!!! on a recce/holiday,also planning to set up meetings with ambulance sevices again any advice will be great.
look forward to any replys, shad

A big hello from one newbie to another. My husband and I have only just found this place and have only posted a few comments on here. Like you we are hoping to move to Alberta. We hope it will happen this year, as our application went in nearly 2 years ago. DH also has a job offer now, so are going through the LMO process. Unfortunately we don't get a lot of feedback from the prospective employer, so it's really frustrating.
Anyway, we might be seeing a lot of each other around here - and good luck.

Hello to both new families. BE is such a good site with mega amounts of information. Please read the WIKI thread found on the blue tool bar above; the Canadian section is the best there is thanks to Judy in Calagary and others.

What part of South Wales are you from Shad, we orginally hail from the Rhondda and have been in Saskatchewan since Sept last year, it's been a really good move.

I looked on the Sask Government website and couldn't see Paramedics on the shortage list but that doesn't mean they isn't a shortage in any other province. We came to Sask on the Long Haul Truck Drivers Program and are hoping to be sponsored by Sask on PNP once we have been here 6 months.

We'd only been to Niagra Falls (many years ago) before coming to Regina so I can't give you any comparisons. As you can imagine my OH gets all over Canada and he US but doesn't stay long enough in any one place to make comment.

I think you are probably doing the right thing in planning a reccie. I can't remember off hand if there are any paramedics on BE but I am sure there are, maybe you could go to the immigration section and post a question about paramedics and see what happens. Oh and read the WIKI in the blue tool bar above.

If I happen upon anything in Sask I will let you know, good luck
