Well. That's that then!

A few of you guys already know about my story and my attempts to emigrate with my new family.
Well, here is the final closing chapter.
We're having to knock this dream on the head. Neither of my stepdaughters want to go. They are all wrapped up in missing friends and family that we cannot make them appreciate what is on offer.
We also had a long chat with the EX today as well. He was surprisingly sensible about it all. But as the girls are saying No so is he. Although he did add that if they were ever to change their minds he would allow them to go, which I do appreciate. He recognises that the UK is shit and that even he wants to leave the country!
So am feeling really gutted and low, but not surprised at the outcome. The problem is, if we don't go now then there won't be a better time to until the girls are 18, as I want minimal disruption to their schooling.
So that's Plan B. Try again in 8 years time when the youngest is 18. Their Dad won't have a say in where they can live. We'll be saying 'We're off. Come with us or stay.' As Mrs P is an Ozzy we'll probably go to Perth. Getting the visa will be much more simpler. I can't do with waiting another 3 1/2 years for a Canadian one!
So, thanks to everyone for the advice and laughs. I'm going to give up on visiting this site as it will be too painful to read about what a great time you're all having without me.
Cheers.

Sorry Pincher, i feel for you mate, my Daughter is just doing GCSE's and she is Going, like it or not, i understand your situation, and i wish you all the best, keep your chin up mate, lifes to short! was not going to reply, but i saw you were still logged on. Hey at least the Father came round, you never know mate, start the application without them knowing, might be differenet, if you offer them a holiday in Canada, so they can see what they are going to miss, then spring a suprise, and tell them they can live here if they want............. just a thought. although sneaky. GOOD luck mate.

That sucks, Pincher. Your dreams shattered by your stepdaughters......
Though we haven't met, I've read most of your posts. I think I know how you feel right now. But keep your chin up! Once there'll be a day that you can leave the UK, be it to Canada or Australia.... Look forward to that day!

Pincher, a realistic question for you, i know about the situation you are in,, you said the Father even admited that he would leave this country, .... this is very positive, can you not get him on your side, and work together, the girls are young, my kids moved a hell of a lot when i was in the Army, they get used to things, faces change, friends are made, afterall this is YOU making changes for thier future, as well as your own, Dont give up mate because a cpl of young girls are gonna miss thier mates, i joined the army over 20 years ago, i never miss my mates i grew up with, they are young and CAN and WILL adapt, given time,,,,,,,,,,, i think more thought is needed here before you go the way of .... what if,,,,,,,,,, thier DAD said yes, they say NO. who's in charge of bringing the FAMILY up ?
