I have a week off in March to coincide with my 5 year olds half term week.
Any suggestions tips etc on where to go, what to see etc.
Obviously a lot easier in the summer with the beaches and lakes but I feel March will be in the waiting for summer phase!!!! Possibly still some snow on the ground, cool but not freezing and the touristy things will be shut.
My mum will also be over from the UK to.
Appreciate any suggestions, many thanks.

You might find its actually hideous in March. Still cold, still some snow on the ground, or brown and grey and just horrible.
How about Florida? Now that would be very nice in March!

So to coincide with the school half term I have taken some vacation time and possibly fancy a change of scenery over the weekend.
My wife, mother and 5 year old in tow, any suggestions, I am learning towards either a drive to NB, or a drive in to the USA.
Somebody mentioned an indoor water and theme park in NB, but I have no details.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks Howe family,
Florida would be great but my wife has to work during the week.
We both ski and my little one is a dare devil so it is something we have thought about. Do you have any suggestions, can you stay the weekend there are there cabins etc or is it just a quick day out from Halifax.
Sorry for all the questions, we moved from Alberta so are still finding our NS feet and due to work commitments I still split my time between UK and NS. Although summertime we have toured extensively around NS.
Thanks in advance.

Arrives in Halifax, and looks to get out of there at the first opportunity.
Sounds about right
Just kidding.
The US border is a good 7 hour drive... and it only gets you to Maine, so not much going on there.
There is an outdoor (not indoor) water park in NB (nr Moncton), but it wont be open now.
A day trip to Lawrencetown might be worthwhile (but again, many of the touristy bits are likely closed for the season). Kedji national park is probably open- maybe snow shoeing or something?
Unfortunately, March isnt really a good time to visit (like most places in Canada really).

Hi Lamin
I am sorry, I was being facetious as I would like to be in Florida right now, SO over winter already.
Hmmmmm - Wentworth must have some places to stay, I just dont know them as we just go up for skiing for the day as not too far for us. And of course Martock is in, so I believe, the Valley.
Are you on Facebook? There is a BEs of nova Scotia page, there is a stack of info on there and some lovely people that would be more useful on this topic.
welcome to NS from AB btw

Apparently if you leave at 4am you would at the Hilton, Stamford Connecticut by checkin time. You can then catch a train to Grand Central Station.
We are doing this trip in May, but our friend has already done it, hence the detail. I dont know if March would be so pleasant as of course NY is still cold then too... but there would be lots to see, including FAO Schwarz toystore for the little one....

Hi lamin for the theme park you may be thinking of crystal palace its an indoor amusement park aimed towards younger children my six year old loves it there if you Google Ramada plaza Dieppe it will bring up hotel packages that include the rides and the indoor water pool at the hotel a lot of parents take these breaks as everything is all together the hotel connects straight to crystal palace and restaurant etc without going outside, there is also a cinema next door and across the street is the Champlain mall in Dieppe Moncton, this amusement park would cater I think for kids up to around twelve, Moncton zoo usually starts opening on some sundays in March but it depends on how much snow is on the ground

Pugs girl,
Thanks for the tip on the water park on Moncton, I think that is the one I have heard of. Have you been?
Howefamily, certainly no offence taken, believe me if time and holidays allowed I would be off to Fla like a shot. Love NS but was just looking for something quick and easy to do for a weekend of difference.
Thanks for every bodies comments so far.

My son loved Crystal Palace and we went when he was 11 and 12 a number of times, they have some sort of laser adventure game that both he and my husband love. Given that there isn't much open here in March, I think Moncton is a good place to visit. I have been to a few of the hotels with a pool - there are quite a number that do special packages, and a number include a day ticket to Crystal Palace. There always seems things that are going on in Moncton too, Champlain Mall seems pretty mega to me now, given the paucity of indoor opportunities here. Is there much in Halifax to visit in winter? I have been considering a visit there myself and I've never been. Very best of luck!
