weather in BC

Hi,
I was intrigued by the comment that it rains for 5 months a year in BC.
Ok, only been here for 3 winters, but that is a fallacy!
Yes, it rains, it has to - BC is home to wonderful temperate rainforests. (http://www.bcforestinformation.com/movies.asp)
And when it rains it can do so with supreme *attitude* (once described to me as a vertical swimming pool). But we don't get the irritating days of mist and drizzle I experienced in NW England
A colleague from Calgary has commented that since moving to Vancouver she doesn't need to buy moisturiser anymore - the natural air humidity does it for her.
If you want an idea of how much rain in Vancouver, have a look at the attached chart (Mean Annual Precipitation for Greater Vancouver (millimetres per year)

I've noticed the same generalizations! I guess its hard to fathom as well that if you leave the southern coastal areas and travel inland for 4 hours you will be in an area that is semi-arrid (desert qualities).
Pays to do some research!

Anyway, the 2 summers I have experienced here have most definitely been an improvement (just no holiday time to explore - but that is another topic!!)

Yeah, you get some beautiful summers in Vancouver.
Isn't somewhere that has definite seasons generally considered a plus point?
And in the Winter you've got snow on your doorstep (literally with Grouse/Cypress ski areas etc.) without it bringing city life to a halt.
Cheers, Iain
