i suppose all pr applicants get like i feel now.It is 5 months since i sent in application and it seems like forever.I don`t know whether or not to put money into improving my house or just leave it and hold on to the money.Has anyone re mortgaged and bought in canada in the hope of p.r.? I feel i might do this and rent it out till we get there. If not sucsesful i suppose i could re sell, would i be losing money doing this?Has anyone on here got to a stage where they just said sod it and packed the idea of immigration in? If i could just get up and go it would be easier than just sitting here thinking is everything going to work out?The waiting seems to throw more negatives up than posatives.I came back from 2 weeks in canada full of excitement in may.Now my friend has just come back from visiting family there and says he wouldn`t live there rent free, fills me with all that is wrong with the place.Wife is now starting to say why don`t we just move to another part of the u.k and have a change that way.Good god audrey.

Hi Tom
We sent in application in March so I know what you mean. We decided that we would spend a few months improving our house (took advice from "friendly" local estate agent on what to do and what not to do!). Have done lots that didn't cost too much and we are having new kitchen installed in a couple of weeks. Then after Christmas we will put it on the market and see what happens.
In the meantime we are learning to play golf, hubby is taking computer course for the terrified (at last!). I am going on as many training courses as my boss will allow and we are trying to keep really really busy.
We may try putting our house on the market when we have finished doing it up and see what the response is. We have a figure in our head and we get that as an offer then we may well sell up, rent for a while and buy in Canada.
GIVE UP??? No! Now that would be too easy wouldn't it?
Positives and negatives - Depends who you listen to. It's your life - I have friends who love living in Dudley - I wouldn't (no offence intended at all). Your friend may have had a dreadful visit with his family in Canada but it was what it was - a visit to his family (hey could have been worse - they could have lived in Dudley lol). Likewise the posts on this forum are mainly written from a personal perspective and remember not everyone likes Canada :scared:
You could try somewhere else in the UK - it's always an option - there are some great places here and I live in one of them
Keep your chin up and keep busy! Cal

Hi
How we kept busy whilst waiting for the big answer - we decided to make a list and visit all the places in the UK we wanted to before the big off if the answer came through as yes. We had quite a lot of short breaks, weekends away etc, it kept us busy and gave us something else to think about!
I am so glad we did do 'England', the kids often mention places we went too. Anyway just a thought.

Hi
we have been waiting for about 10 months now, and like Tom not knowing what to do, we have done small jobs around the house, paint hallway nuetral colours, buy new vases, shampoo all carpets, paint garage, do the drive way, still have few things to do, but nothing as big as build a conservatory.! We have thought about it and to get the driveway blocked paved. We are trying to save as much money as possible, so we are not going on summer holiday abroad, going down to parents in hertfordshire for a week. Having lots of days out when this rotten weather improves. Have to keep smiling though
