Or if not Miele, another European brand front loader with temperature settings. N.Am front loaders don't have temperature settings other than, cold, warm and hot. Useless.

I'm curious as to what temperature or temperatures you programme it to use?

Could they not be described adequately by cold, warm or hot?

It's a washing machine not a gas chromatograph.

It's not that unreasonable. If your clothes say wash at 30C, or 40C it's quite handy to know what counts as 'warm' or 'hot'.

Top loaders do ruin clothes eventually - despite what people claim. Stuff gets caught on that big spinny thing in the middle and is stretched to the point where it comes out a different shape. Especially cotton t-shirts or hoodies - it's happened to plenty of mine in the top loader we had when we lived downtown.

My clothes don't talk very much while I'm listening at least. But do you think that labels which make a fuss over the difference between 30 & 40C are possibly sponsored and paid for by the manufacturers of expensive washing machines?

You have any evidence for that claim?

I still say it's not unreasonable. What's hot? 40C? 70C? 90C? Who decides? How do you know?

For the record, while I do have a pastel Beetle and a fluffy designer dog, this is too far for me. It's not the sort of thing I would ever consider. Who even knew clothes say anything?

I'd say that hot is you can't put your hand in it witout saying "ouch", warm would be "not cold" as in baby bath temperature, and cold would be - cold out of the tap cold.

All that is my Novo scientific approach.

Hot is 55-60C (the temperature you choose to set for your hot water).

30-40 is warm.

15 or so is cold.

Who decides? Those chatty clothes of course.

The cold/cold, hot/cold, warm/warm etc is the settings for wash/rinse, so hot/cold is a hot wash with a cold rinse, warm/cold is a warm wash with cold rinse and so on.

Kenmore machines are made by whichever manufacturer is flavour of the month, my machines are Kenmore but made by Samsung, my range is a Kenmore Elite made by Electrolux.

It's probably in the manual.

Is that the best the pair of you can do? Pick on the verb 'say' (incorrectly too) - really, standards are slipping around here.

Mock all you like, but I prefer my measurements to be objective rather than subjective and if it makes t-shirts last a bit longer then I have to do less shopping. Less shopping is good.
