Hi,

Been in Canada a few years now and living in Wasaga Beach, Ontario.

There was a currency trader who posted here who lived in Wasaga. I lost interest in his story when he bought a Cadillac estate car, I mean how could you? cneldred or similar was the name.

How are the property prices & winters in Wasaga Beach?

Is it a place that you'd recommend people to live?

Does it have any negatives?

It's a Coney Island/Southend/Blackpool/Lake Havasu vomiting white trash kinda place. I love it, in small doses.

It's a reasonable purchase if you can't afford an Aston shooting brake.

I think one would need a lot of expensive knitwear and some Pauly Walnuts style grey streaks at the temples (both of which Mr. Eldred may have had).

Good thing about knitwear is it's impossible to tell whether it's expensive or from the Scout's jumble sale. qv Richard Branson. Anyone not got grey streaks at the temples?

Also, the lake water is freezing cold, dirty and smells.

I was there two weeks ago (when it was still 'summer') and I have to disagree. The lake water was warm and beautifully clear.

Much nicer experience than the jellyfish filled beaches of South Devon.

YMMV I guess. Lakes Erie and Huron (which I live near) are both meh, and i've been "up north" in the kawarthas, and while I wouldn't call them as smelly or dirty as the former, they're definitely cold.

Seconded. The water at Georgian Bay (Awenda PP) was wonderful last year, and even Lake Ontario at Bluffers park is warm in summer. I'm always amazed how clean the lakes are. But I've never been to Wasaga.

Decades of holidaying in south Devon and Cornwall, and I've never seen a jellyfish. Kids would love to see one. Where am I going wrong?!

Very near to Bluffers Park, we used to sail around something called the "shit stick" or, more formally, the Sewage Outlet Marker Buoy. I was always amazed how clean the swimmers thought the water to be. I expect they're dead now.
