Firstly, the Bunac visa is only for a year, not 2 years. If you want to do that though, you'll need to be very quick as applications for this years allocation of visas opened in December and although they haven't run out yet to my knowledge, last year they ran out in April so it could be anytime soon!
The other thing to be aware of is that once you have one years full-time work experience as a qualified electrician, you may be eligible to apply for Permanent Residency via a Skilled Worker visa. This is great news as you'd have all the rights of a permanent resident, and there are only 38 'occupations in demand' that qualify - and electricians are one of them! So you'd be very lucky as most people don't qualify as a Skilled Worker without a job offer as their occupation isn't on the list.
The only bit of bad news is that to practice as an electrician in Canada you need something called the Red Seal - and to get this, you have to prove you have got a minimum of 9000 hours of experience, which cannot include any apprenticeships. I don't know if you would qualify for this?
Have a read of the Wiki (on blue bar at top of page), which has loads of info about Bunac, Skilled Worker visas and the Red Seal, so should help.
Hope all the above helps, good luck with your journey.

It's true that each individual Visa lasts a year, but I'm presuming that the OP will be going on a Student Visa and will also be eligible for a Non-Student one after. I think the recent rule changes mean this can be taken straight afterwards, so effectively making a 2-year Visa, though I'm not 100% sure on this as I don't think anyone will have done it yet. Or if you didn't know this properjob, hopefully you will now! I'm actually the same age and in the same situation as you then, albeit in a different industry...
I believe there was a thread about an electrician recently wasn't there?

The advise is right, you need to prove 9000hrs after you have qualified in the uk, there is no way around this as they ask for proof from employers in the uk and double check if they feel the need.
Also when you pass the red seal they will check with your employer to make sure that you can do the job that you are working in

You maybe able to apply for PR in your own rights as an electrician as pr is 6/12 mths as an electrician, worth looking into if you have the money to do it?
My OH and i moved here, but he has been an electrician for years, so it was easy for him to pick a job up, industrial electricians are still in mega demand in our area, but you still need to prove that you can challenge the red seal.
Good luck, any advise on the electrician side, give us a PM
