Question waiting game?

Hi, very confused ,would someone be able to let us know how long, approx will it take for the migration process. Heard it will take from anything from 6months to 3years, how true is this? I will be applying under the skilled worker category. Any info would be much appreciated!!!

From what I've heard, skilled worker from UK will probably take two years or so as long as you are a standard case. i.e. Always lived in UK, no background check problems, etc.

Don't know what you background is, but if you have particular high demand skills try to move heaven and earth to get an HRSDC approved job offer. You can then get here in about 3 months via a work permit then apply for PR from within. Just a thought.

Here you go...

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/departm...mes/index.html

It varies on which visa and where you apply. Have a look at the CIC site and the processing times and yes, it can vary that much.

Something along the lines of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. You don't contact them directly, but they have to approve any offers of employment that you might get. The following link is the home page.

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca

Also have a look at

http://www.outboundpublishing.com

In particular have a look at the shows link. "Emigrate" in early OCtober can a great source of info. In particular a company that sells books with lists of employer and agency contacts is always there. I can't remember the name because mine is in a carton 6000 miles away at the moment. Don't put too much faith in web sites such as www.monster.com.

Good Luck

Applications, via the Skilled Worker route, sent now are being quoted a possible wait of 36 months. :scared:

Don't know if that helps or not!

I would not be surprised if there times were being distorted by the additional security checks required for applications from a number of "the more interesting" contries that this office does the processing for:

Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen

Don't put any faith in sites such as monster and workopolis. They show a fraction of percent of the jobs available. Many of the ads are placed by agencies building databases of resumes (CVs). If you post your resume, the most likely call you will get will be from a scuzzy pyramid-sales outfit.

Use such websites to learn the names of companies that you might want to approach independently, and for picking up the right buzz-words. They're not much use for anything else.

Try applying directly to employers - most have a way to submit your resume directly through the website.

Take a look at http://www.bombardier.com for an example.
