Wages
How long is a piece of string? i hear you all cry.
but joking aside what is considered an average hourly rate? I personally could live on $18 an hour as I will have loads of equity when i sell my home etc.
while surfing the jobs on offer i have noticed different hourly rates for the same type of job. strange but true!!
thanks for the input.

Re: Wages
Due to the vast area that is Canada even exactly the same job in the same province will be paid differently, mine is an example. I am on a different salary to someone doing the same job in the same country for the same company at the same skills level.
That is because there are many base pay scales because labour costs and economic conditions vary in different parts of the country.
If you check the Wiki for Salaries it will give you a better idea of why this is, and ways that you can find out what is a fair rate for your area.

Re: Wages
Quite.
In Metro Vancouver wage rates start at $8.00 ph for cheap restaurant and retail and hospitality type places. Skilled tradesmen start around $25.00 as an employee but get $40-$50 as a self-employed subcontractor. A professional would look for at least $40 but can earn quite a lot more.
