Hi everyone.
I moved to calgary 3 weeks ago and its great and im loving it i have just one problem.We brought our furniture over with us and left all the big electical stuff behind except for a bose cd radio its a really good player cost us £750 so we thought we could get a voltage transformer for it 220-240 to 110 but cant find one we need one that plugs directly into the mains here and then plug the cd into that.We have tried walmart canadian tyre future shop they all have the same one.Its for when you go abroad and does not plug into the mains here without an adaptor which will not work with the cd.PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME ITS TO GOOD TO BIN IT.

I'm running my receiver and subwoofer from a 2000 W transformer. Don't bother with the big box stores.... you won't get one. Find an electrical specialist in your Yellow Pages. They will have them.

You could try these people, www.voltageconverters.com they are an American company but Canadian orders are shipped from a warehouse in Canada so you don't have to pay taxes. Sam

Get at least double what you need in the transformer

In the case of the stereo make sure its double what it consumes in total, not the rated output of the amplifier

So if your equipment consumes 80w get a transformer rated 160w or greater

I have one that we no longer use as we don't use our English stuff anymore. We bought it from voltage converters. You can have it if you want to come and pick it up. From memory it is either a 1000W or a 15000W one. We used it to run a TV, stereo and all manner of video consoles. We are in the deep south west, we overlook Spruce Meadows.

If I purchased a 3000w convertor and plugged a UK 4 gang extention, would it run a TV, Video, DVD player and surround sound?

Easily. I used a 5 plug extension on mine with no difficulty at all.
