Question Voltage converters

Hey guys,

I've a couple of portable electrical items that I brought from the UK and I need a step up voltage converter to use them. I bought something like this but it didn't work:

50W US AC Power Plug Converter Adapter AC 220V 240V TO 110V 120V Transformer | eBay

I'm specifically looking for one to use with my electric trimmer which is 220-240V ~ 50Hz 10W. Any suggestions?

If the voltage converter works it'll just run at the wrong speed. I wouldn't use it to trim any sensitive regions or you'll sound like something played on a voltage converted record player.

There was recently a big thread about voltage converters, here: http://britishexpats.com/forum/canad...canada-852018/

Might be worth just buying a new one...

Which model is that? I have heard that good dual voltage trimmers are quite hard to find.

I've left it at home on accident and i'm on vacation at the moment so I can't tell you the exact model but I found it at best buy... It was $69.99 when I bought it, it was on the box it said 100/240v. It looks like this one Philips PowerTouch Shaver (PT860/20) : Shavers & Groomers - Best Buy Canada
