Default Viza question

Ok, guys

Let's see I receive my viza on my passport hopefully 6 months from now or one year from now. Can I wait to go to Canada to get my permanent resident card for about 3 months. I'm just trying not to make 2 trips, first to get my permanent resident card and come back and move after 3 months. Just not sure if permanent resident card can wait and how long. Any idea?

IIRC you have to land within a year of your medical assesment, so if that gives you 3 months to land then your OK, and if it doesnt, then you will have to land, arrange to get the PR card somehow else (or wait for it) and then go back in order to move. I think I read here somewhere that because they are so backed up with the processing many people have little time after the visa is issued to arrange to land. To help in situation there is now some way to get an extension, but I have no idea if this is true or what the details are.

Hope this helps.

Iain

I have read somewhere recently that the Canadian authorities have, unprompted, added 3 months to the landing date where the visa has been issued close to the anniversary of the medical. I’ll post a link if I can find it, but it is unlikely to be necessary anyway, I’d have thought.
