Hey all,
I am a 34 year old living in Tamworh, England. My girlfriend currently resides in Toronto.
We have been dating for 6 months and have visited eachother many times etc etc. All we really want is to be able to live together in the same country and function as a normal couple.
I have looked at the CIC website and it is all very confusing and i just feel like im going in circles.
Since I am over 30 i do no qualify for a Working Holiday Visa. Perhaps she could sponsor me and I would consider applying for Perminent Resident but i dont really understand that either. If i get PR status and worst case senario our relationship doesnt work out will I be able to work in England again?
We could get married, as in my eyes it would NOT be a "Marriage of Convenience" because we do love eachother very much.
I guess my question is: if we got married? how long before i could work in Canada?
I also have a son in England so i would spend some extended time back home. If later on we were to move back to the UK as a married couple, would my wife be able to work there as well?
argh so many questions. sorry.
thanks for any help.
cheers

Hi,
read the wiki above in the blue bar it has all the info.....i can provide some basic answers.....
for common law sponsorship you need to be living together for 12 months and have stuff like joint bank accounts, house lease in both names etc.....as i understand you both can apply outland from within Canada but if you are called for an interview it will be in the UK...this type of sponsorship is hard to prove....
for "marriage of convience" no just joking, for marriage family class sponsorship you apply and then leave it in the hands of immigration to decide if its a sham or real marriage...the more evidence you give the better the case, phone bills, letters, cards, proof of holidays together, reciepts for presents or days out or restaurants, photos, stuff like this......if you dont have anything or not much then you might be in trouble and more than likely get called for an interveiw....again you can both apply outland from within Canada but if you get called for an interview it will be in the UK....
Once you have your PR you can travel between the UK and Canada and work wherever you choose, as long as you meet residency requirements which is 2 years out 5 years for PR renewal or 3 years out of 5 years for citizenship....
in order for you to work in Canada while waiting for PR you could include a open work permit while your application is being processed, but if you left to go back to the UK and then try and return to Canada while still in progress you may have problems at immigration and get refused entrance......
not sure about ur wife working in the UK you would have to apply for the correct visa from UK immigration......
