Default Visa extention and Marriage

Hi!

I am a South African girl that met my soul mate(Canadian) in Israel in 1999 we are still madly in love and we have been though hell to be with each other. We got engaged over the phone.
Being rejected a visitors visa in 2000 to visit him after he visited me, we were devastated. Our bond grew stronger over the phone for about 8 months then he got the chance to visit me again.
Then I thought because of my experience in taking care of children i would apply to au-pair in America(you need a year experience to do au-pair in Canada) so I though that I could do that and then do au-pair in Canada...all confusing, i know......anyway.....I loved the family but the job just wasnt for me anymore and manage to get a multiple enty visa for Canada and visited him ones while working for the family. But after I left the program I came to Canada....my six months expires January 2003. So we plan to get married before it expires.......but I am afraid that they(visa officer) wont see that as valid. What is the best option for me to be with my fiance? We are so scared of them sending me back or rejecting our point. Should I go to another country for 2 months and then return, or get married before the date expires or just apply for extention of my visa?We would hate to spend more time appart from each other. What could we do? Please help with some good advise.....i am sick of people giving their point of view making us more paranoid. Thanks for taking the time to read this long story, i am sure there are people out there with more problems.

Thanks
Me

Your fiance could apply to sponsor you within the family class immigration. You will need to have proof that you have been going out for over 12 months and that you are engaged etc (phone bills, photographs etc). Check out the applications and information at www.cic.gc.ca I know how you feel. Good luck!

I wouldn't leave the country, because they might not let you back in. You can get married and apply as a spouse from within. You'll still need to send for the visitor's visa extension, but you shouldn't have a problem receiving it once you're married to a Canadian. Please join my Yahoo group for those applying as a fiancee or spouse:

good luck,

Sorry but the fiancee category was cancelled on June 28, 2002. Best
and only way is to get married and have him sponsor you as his
spouse.

This is the first time I hear about the 12 months rule, where did you
see that you must prove the relationship is at least 12 months old?

12 months rule applies to the length of cohabitation in the case of common-law
spouses and partners as well as to the length of relationship when it comes to
conjugal partners.
