According to Wikipedia:-

The arts are a vast subdivision of culture, composed of many endeavors (or artforms) united by their employment of the human creative impulse. The term implies a broader range of disciplines than "art", which in modern usage usually refers only to the visual arts.[1] The other major constituents of the arts are the literary arts, more often called literature – including poetry, novels and short stories, among others – and the performing arts, among them music, dance, magic, theatre, opera and film.[2] Literary arts and creative writing are actually interchangeable terms.[3] These divisions are by no means absolute as there are artforms which combine a visual element with performance (e.g. film) and the written word (e.g. comics). This list is by no means comprehensive, but only meant to introduce the concept of the arts.

So where do you fit in?

Lots of that there. I think production's been down everywhere due to global economics but the business is still there.

Toronto is better for most production and definitely way better than Vancouver for theatre.

I know - BC is where we are heading. Have seen some jobs advertised there.

Just need to keep options open.

If you are looking for onsite production you wont get anywhere unless you join the unions and they are notorious for being hard as wood to crack into. There is lots of shows filmed in YVR, Fringe is now done so most people that worked on that will be hunting about now. lots of film production however but near on no theatre. Its best to approach it from an education angle. LOTS of training and schools for the arts.
