Yeah! Priceline is excellent for hotels, too. In 2004, the wife and I stayed at the Sheraton in Toronto for, if I'm not mistaken, US$80/night (or was it US$60? Memory's going down the drain I'm afraid
).
Anyway, the good thing about it is that you name your price (for hotels). Dunno if you can do the same for flights, though.
Good luck, anyway.

You can, but only for flights departing from the US. Don't know why they stopped doing it internationally - I once got London-Chicago-DC for 150 GBP return with them. Happy days!
May seems pricey at the moment, I can see 273 USD from YVR-LAX for April. Check Kayak.com and watch the fare trends from other users' searches.

Was seriously considering that actually, but dont want to leave my 3 year old for too long (sad cow), but hubby and I plan to do that as a family. Actually I drove from Van to San Fran along the coast, pretty stunning.
Thanks guys for your tips, I did a bit of research and with the ideas you gave it looks like we can do it for $275 ish, much better!
