Hi guys new to this and I've no doubt it's been asked many a time but here goes.
Me and the Mrs are looking at van island to live when we finally move next March 2017 can anyone please possibly name top 3 areas to live on the island then I can put together a list and we can research more we are on a road trip this may (in 4 weeks yeaaa) we are in summerland b.c move onto north van quick snowboard in whistler then onto van island to look around we are in tofino surfing then the work starts. So any help really would be appreciated cheers guys in advance.

I bet you are getting excited, just 4 weeks to go - and it sounds like you have some great places lined up for a visit.

I'm sure others will dive in with some suggestions, but in the meantime if you look at this google search for other threads on BE about Vancouver, it may give you some ideas.

Are you already living in Canada? What do you do for a living? That may have an impact on which areas might suit.

Victoria I have found nice but pricey. At least for us. Rents dont seem to be under 1,000.

I also liked Quadra Island 5 min ferry ride from Campbell River on the northern side of the island. But the ferry from quadra could get pricey.

I also like Qualicum but no idea what is there...


We had seriously looked at Victoria but housing was an issue.

I'm not clear of your priorities. If it's sports, Victoria might not be your top choice. West coast places like Tofino and Uclulet don't have many jobs. So what work and what lifestyle do you want?
