I abandoned this thread a few days ago. There is no sense to it, and I see there is even less now.
The question is like asking are smarties better than m&m's. Well, the answer is, it depends on what you like. No use trying to answer the question by microscopic examination of the ingredients; it's a matter of taste. If I could have my way I would live on the waterfront in Vancouver, perhaps somewhere around English Bay - although I would want to more fully explore Vancouver before final judgement. Next, I would only pay Calgary property prices for my pad. I would also only pay Albertan taxes and would change the weather so that instead of raining, like it does in Vancouver, it would be sunny all the time, like it is in Calgary. |
Re: Vancouver or Calgary ?
Originally posted by oceanMDX Of course I know that the head of state of Canada is the Queen. If you wouldn't have misread my post, you'd understand I said that such a claim would be foolish. I was using a pun. A "queen" is also know as a "transvestite". I thought you British were so good at understanding irony. Perhaps the lingo is too different between North America and the UK, but you are in Canada I'm not in the UK. Now why don't you go back and admire some more of those male models that you have stored on your hard drive? ;) You just didn't go there  I thought someone that claims to have gone out of kitchener will know better not to compare England to Calgary ! A fag where i come from, is a cigarette, and a tranvestite is known as stoke-on-trent. I'll say it again, go back to your bedsit in kitchener, and stop spouting crap. Is that why you have been trying to find out where i live? I have got news for you batty boy, i don't do fairies, so take your business somewhere else. It was because of people like you that i took my original picture of the face to a name thread  Go do your lady boys that you enjoy doing in Mexico , if you are there at all. This is a family home and none of that crap goes onto my hard drive. I think you are telling the forum the kind of person you are, wrong forum, and too bad for you  |
Please mickj, rant elsewhere. This thread is about Vancouver/Calgary not about your alternate lifestyle.
|
You are definitely a nutter, so stay away from me. You won't know what Mexico looked like even if i showed you a map :lecture:
You come on here going on about Kitchener, who gives a Toss about that place, you are not even big enough to admit that is where you are  OCEANMDX....    |

I didnt want it to degenerate into this and I am sorry it has but can we leave it now please. Thanks for the advice from both of you :) Cheers and lets leave it at that. |
Why has this thread descended into a homophobic slanging match?
Come on, lighten up a bit! I'm sure both Calgary and Vancouver have their virtues, there's no reason to take everything so seriously. As for "fag", yes in the UK it means cigarette. However we know the other meaning and it's very offensive. It's like saying the "n" work when talking about a black person. Not nice so stop it!:lecture: |
As for Calgary, a few people have seemingly taken offense at my light hearted remarks that it was right-wing and full of rednecks. It should've been obvious (especially to Brits!!!!!) that this was a silly remark made in jest!
If anyone did take offense at this, quite frankly I think you should lighten up a bit. I'd actually quite like to go the Calgary Stampede, I'm sure it's fun! :D |
Its alright Fellas   I just get my Trousers in a twist when someone tries to slag off the Queen, i will have nothing bad said about that woman, compared to the governor general here in this country, she is an angel :D :D
Anyways...i just hope whats his face there stays away from my posts. Cheers |

Cheers Anyway, I thought Brits were supposed to have a good sense of humour? I don't see much of that here! :lecture: |
Like i said, moving on. I wasn't the one that started the homphobic comment, i detest that kind of behaviour, i wasn't going to just sit there and let him get away with a comment like that about my hard drive.
Anyway... the whole thread was irrelevant. The best way for the original poster to get a feel of what its like, is to go there and spend some time there. Case closed :lecture: :lecture: |
Originally posted by seamonsta Hmm, well I'm not such a fan of the Queen myself, however I don't see how OceanMDX's comments could be construed as being anti-monarchist? Homophobic yes, but then so were you! Anyway, I thought Brits were supposed to have a good sense of humour? I don't see much of that here! :lecture: I've seen Brits on this forum (beyond this thread) complain that Americans don't understand their jokes, and consequently conclude that Americans don't have much of a sense of humor. That conclusion is wrong. When North Americans tell each other a joke, we always "get it". From the North American perspective, it's the Brits who don't seem to have much of a sense of humor. One explanation is that the lingo is different between the continents. Any native North American reading my post (the one where I referred to "a Queen", not "the Queen") would have understood the pun. In no way was I taking a shot at "the Queen". In all sincerity, people moving to or living in a country should make every effort to familiarize themselves with the vernacular. I can't fault seamonsta for not understanding the pun, since he's not a resident of Canada, but any poster who is really ought to know better. I can imagine what it's like moving to Australia. :( P.S. "redneck" is an offensive term in N.A. on par with "fag". |
