Default Value of the UK Pound

Interesting take on the value of the UK Pound here if not somewhat sensationalist:

"Ministers fear the break-up of the euro could have a devastating effect on Britain, dashing hopes of a recovery and sending the economy back into recession."

.. maybe they should have projected this many moons ago, then perhaps sterling wouldn't be in the shape it is now?

(to think back to the luxury days, when £1 = $2.65 CDN)

I liked the exchange at 2.26 when I was at university in England but visiting my wife in Canada and had to make my student loan stretch. However now that I live in Canada and have to pay back my student loan in Sterling while earning Canadian dollars, well I would be happy for even a momentary collapse of Sterling so I could pay it off a little quicker.
