From: Plymouth, England - looking to move to Ontario

Hello all. I'm moving to Toronto area in Feb next year and I am looking up the immunization requirements. On the letter I received from CHC it talks about children needing to immunized in order to enter school, what it does not make clear is whether adults need to have certain immunizations/vaccinations. Can anyone help out here from when they arrived and what they needed...I am trying to avoid being turned into a pin cushion a week before I leave!!!!

Not that I'm aware of. We didn't anyway, and I don't know anyone else who has.
And if you don't want your kids to have any/some of the vaccinations there is an exemption form you can get from your local health unit to say that you'll just pull them out of school if there's an outbreak of something they could have been vaccinated for. They will also ask you to re-vaccinate if they have been done on a different schedule to the provincial requirements, so the form can be used if you don't want to double vaccinate them too.

Normally UK residents arriving from the UK and have been living in the UK dont require vaccinations. Check with the Provincial School Authorities re vaccinations for children if needed.

I don't think they check on adults, however I think they want a record of school children's immunisations for starting school. My gp surgery ran a print out of our daughters immunisation records and stamped it.

We got a letter from the school board (at least I think they sent it - a few years ago now) when my son's vaccinations needed a booster to say that if they did not see evidence that it had been done then he could be excluded from school.
