I am dealing with probate for my late father who lived in the UK, but used to live and work in the US. I need to have a US bank account for his estate but haven’t been able to set one up as I live in Canada. I have tried CIBC, TD and RBC. Has anyone else been in this situation and can recommend a bank that can help? I can get a US account here, but not one that can be used by the US lawyers handling probate, which is what I need.
Thank you.
Thank you.

You can set up a US$ account (as well as CAN$) at EQbank, which is online only. You will get routing number and account number etc from EQ to which funds can be transferred. Having said that, what is the problem having a US$ account here that the lawyers can use? I have a US$ account at RBC that the US SSA pay into each month with no problem.

Thank you very much for your help! I will try EQbank. I tried RBC and, while they were very helpful, they said they the type of US account they could offer wouldn’t work for me. I will give your suggestion a go. Thanks again!
