Last week OH got the job in Scotia - yahoo!!!!!
How did everyone feel when they either got the job (Work Permit route) or PR came through.
Even though we have spent years researching Canada, been over 3 times and have an AOR of August 2006, now he's got the job I am starting to get the collywobbles already. Thought I would have been euphoric for a while yet. Could it be that I know exactly whats ahead re the stress of selling up the house (not to mention gutting out that darned garage).
I was standing at the bus stop yesterday in the city looking at the buildings all around in a way I have never looked at them before - like I am saying goodbye to a trusty friend.
I must admit, the more people I tell, the better I feel. I felt a bit of a traitor at the beginning of the week - think that's probably because we have had this 'big secret' for 1 1/2 years. I haven't even told my workmates yet as I decided to tell all friends first .......... you know how word gets around!
Husband has now gone back offshore so I have to try and get the house organised (garage his domain :scared: )before we put it on the market. Could be moving either this side of Christmas or early 2007.
I guess this is just the start of many up and downs coming our way of the next few months. I'll just have to keep focused and keep away from chocolate!

I have been told that euphoria comes later, hope so because I am brickin myself. The fact that you are only having mild collywobbles is a good sign. Every time I do something now nostalgia washes over me, it even happened today when I left my mates old joinery workshop for the last time having made some deep and meaningful doors
. Don't know what state I will be in when the visas arrive and I book the flights.
Hang in there and turn to drink if you must

Congratulations on the job. Good luck with the move.
Right now I feel bitter and twisted, but I have just had a very bad month. I am feeling pretty upbeat but would be lying if I said there are no nerves.

Congratulations! We are heading over to NS later this year too (WP). It all feels quite surreal at the moment - I am going through the motions getting stuff organised, but then have a major panic about the whole thing - how will we cope, what if it is the worst thing we ever do, etc, etc! The worse thing so far is selling the house - we had an offer almost 6 weeks ago but have yet to exchange, and are terrified the sale will fall through, leaving no time to sell before we are due to leave the UK in December. If/when we do exchange - we could literally have to move out within a week and I am nowhere near organised for that :scared: The UK house selling situation SUCKS

Hopefully our house will sell quickly when we put it on the market in a couple of weeks time. Our neighbours went on sale at offers over £179,000 - had 15 noted interests and went to a closing date 10 days later. They got £260,000 !!!!!!!! Selling in Scotland is different as we have sealed bids - very good if your selling
, not so good if your buying
Where are you moving from/to Silver Birch?

We were really lucky because in February someone heard through a friend that we were immigrating. They came for a look at our wee but n ben and made us an offer for house and contents. We negotiated for a month or so and agreed a price applicable till we left. It was slightly over the going rate for April and lucky for us the market has been failry flat since then. Everybody happy and no house worries. Still there is enough other stuff to worry about so.....another sherry vicar, don't mind if I do

i leave on sept 28th for alberta, wedding on October 21st and then inland spousal sponsorship. I've just packed the very last things up as spending a week first with friends, then off to airport. Im nervous as in for arrival at airport but over-the-moon totally - excited otherwise, saying that i'm bringing spare underwear for the extra special bricking it times!
My hand luggage weighs 7kg and all thats in it is documents and paperwork for mr/mrs immigration officer if he asks to see things on arrival!
To stop the colleywobbles just think on in a years time knowing that everything will work out and you will more happy than where you are now, not forgetting keep on thinking why you are moving out to Canada!

I'm doing the same thing - looking at things and places like I'm having to imprint them on my mind and feeling a little wrenched about it but I really do think all this is completely normal.
We're moving this side of Christmas too so we're trying to sell house before the middle of November, getting all the shipping sorted, getting letters from mortgage company, insurers, banks, equifax..... yadda yadda yadda LOL
Hmmm, funny, I also need to stay away from the chocolate - very hard in times of joy and stress... now it's both together!!!

One thing that did surprise me about NS was that its quite flat - I assumed that it might be similar to Scotland. Are there any hills or mini-mountains?
Reassuring to hear that what I am feeling is quite normal and others at the same stage in the process are feeling the same. It is a very big step to take, but its been in the pipeline for a long time now and I am excited about what the future may hold for my kids. I already have plenty of friends adding NS to their 'holiday destination' list. Thank goodness for cheap airlines!

We have not ventured much further than the HRM and South Shore so far, but there are a couple of ski hills in NS I believe?? The first time we visited I just remember thinking "trees, lakes, no cars" - that was enough for me

I found myself looking at stuff with new eyes thinking - this could be the last time ever I drive down this road etc. Keep an eye on hubbys domain (garage) i wasn't strict enough and ended up with loads to sort after he had gone :scared:
