UK Wii
Hi
I bought my UK Wii to Canada. I'm sure there's hopefully a way to use this in Canada but not sure so thought I'd post the question/s
Do I need to buy a step down transfomer for this?
Will my wii games work on my Canadian TV?
If anyone can help, I'd be truly grateful. Thanks in advance

Look on the back of the console, likely somewhere near where the power cord is connected and you will see the spec panel - it will tell you what voltage and frequency power it will run on.
If it says 110v-240v (or something similar) and 50/60Hz then it will work on Canadian mains voltage - you just need to swap the plug or power cord (a plug adapter is not a safe long-term solution).

Hi Thanks. Unfortunately it says 230V 50Hz 12V 3.7A so I dont think as is it wont work with a Canadian power cord

Re: UK Wii
I don't know how it would work with a Canadian TV, as I am not a gamer myself and have no personal experience with gaming consoles.

Re: UK Wii
Hi - we still have our UK Wii and use it irregularly via a transformer. We don't leave it permanently plugged in - only when we use it. There should be no issues connecting to a Canadian TV - it all works fine.

Oh i should have said - your UK games will work fine but don't bother buying Wii games in Canada as they won't work due to regional restrictions!

Re: UK Wii
We brought our Wii from the UK. We just got a US Wii power block from Amazon or eBay I guess. Works nicely. The UK Wii is happy to use a US block as the power output to the Wii is the same.
I guess it can't have been expensive when we bought it, or I would've used a transformer as I do for some larger items.

Just to jump in, how would a PS4 cope with the Canadian power setup? Obviously there is no external power brick here.

Re: UK Wii
Hi, we used our Wii power supply that came with us from England. I just cut the UK plug off and went to the Home Depot and bought some re-wireable Canadian plugs, put one of those on it and it works fine. We did have to buy a new power supply for the Xbox though. Even our UK TV works fine at 120v and that says 220 - 240v 50hz on it.
You can get 240v out of your house electrical panel as the clothes dryers and the range cookers are 240v.
