I download all the shows I want from UKNova and it costs nothing. Actually just downloading Jamie Olivers American road trip as I type.

You need;
Fast internet connection...well, not dial up anyway
Then you can either download the torrents once they appear using sites like IsoHunt to find them and a downloadable software like UTorrent
The other alternative it to use an IP proxy so the TV company servers think you are in the UK, then you can use the TV companies websites to view. There is info how to do that if you google for it, or maybe someone here will explain.
UK nova looks like a workable option for frequent downloaders with broadband too.

Ultimately though an addiction to UK TV content shows a lack of effort to integrate into life here and the crap that passes for local TV....

If your internet service provider provides access to Usenet Newsgroups (I know for a fact Shaw does) then check out a little program called Grabit you can search for TV shows and it will download and extract your selected files.
- Browse and Search newsgroups without downloading headers!
- Automatically repair and extract downloaded binaries!
- SSL support to protect your download traffic!
- NZB file support!
- Easy to use and familiar looking user interface!

No connection to the company just a satisfied user.

I have to disagree with Iains last comment.
Addiction to UK TV just shows that you appreciate superior production values and talent in both acting and writing.

Certainly much more interesting documentaries on UK TV.

In general I agree, but of course the UK also bought us Big Brother and much other reality / talent show drivel too

Not much demand in Canada or the U.S. for a series on the coast of the UK, but it's well worth watching.
Yes unfortunately you are correct about some of the drivel, but that's just as easily ignored as I ignore the crap here.

I'll see your Big Brother and raise you a BBC's Planet Earth.
I agree with Steve, Canadian TV is crap but there is a constant stream of high quality stuff coming from the UK.

For that matter, my Canadian-born wife spends as much time on there as I do.
Just saying.

I'm not convinced they all show up on PBS especially the documentaries.
