I have contacted the helpdesk and have been told that it's upto a ten week wait from the payment date.

Are there any other updates in terms of getting things rushed along?

I just called the careline. Was not too much help at all. I was told to call back 5 business days before my expected date of travel. That is cutting it too close for comfort. How do they expect Washington to complete the application and send it back to you within 5 business days. Seems illogical to me.

Does anyone else have any more suggestions or have any other news?

Contacted the British Consulate in Toronto yesterday. I was told they could issue me an Emergency Travel Document if my UK passport doesn't arrive before my trip to the US. I was looking online after my conversation on the phone with the consulate and found that UK ETDs are not accepted when entering the US from Canada. I'm thinking this may be restricted to flights and does not apply to travelling across the border by car.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the ETD?
