Hi Deb and welcome to the forum.

A licensed CSIC immigration consultant would be a much better idea if you really feel that you need help, but most people on here do it themselves, so unless you have complicated circumstances there's no need for you to pay somebody thousands to do it on your behalf.

If you have any questions about it, somebody on here will always answer, and the Wiki (on blue bar at top of page) is a great resource.

Hope that helps.

Sorry Deb, have just realised you mentioned 'a good package', but no company will pay you for emigrating! You will have to pay them.

You may get a good salary & benefit package, but that's direct from the employer and you'd be better of contacting them directly.

Thanks for your quick response.

i have heard that companies advertise nurse relocation packages which includes flights, visa, nurse exam, cheap accomodation, fast tracking paperwork etc usually up to the value of around 5000 cad.
I think thats what im looking for, however i get told so much information its quite confusing....

A number of BC health employers, give (refund) up to $5000 canadian on arrival and submission of qualifying receipts - criteria is given. Personally i would not make use of a 'Specialist', for something you can do yourself - thereby adding to your relocation fund; there are many negative stories about such 'assistance'! though i'm sure some provide a valuable service to those seeking advice for 'special' circumstances)

My advice would be to register with the provincial nursing body (Canadian equivalent of NMC) for your particular discipline - obtain letter of eligibility to sit registration exam then either speak to Canadian employers in person when attending shows and such at the UK emigrate fairs, nursing conferences etc. alternatively upload your Resume (CV) directly to recruitment section of respective employer websites.

Until you at least have your eligibility or it is currently in progress don't expect much, if any employer interest.

It really is 'not that bad' doing it yourself, and there is lots of advice available via the expat forums and from your future employer when you do accept a post.

Good Luck

Hi debsi1380

I agree with Psyched.

We are on our way to Red Deer, Alberta and have not used any specialist but have had good support and advice from the good people (and some specialists) on BE and the hospital HR where I am going to work.

Good luck in your quest and keep us updated.

Mandy

One thing to mention, as well as what the pp's have said, is that they cannot 'fast track' any paperwork for you - if they're promising that, they're scammers!

And I've never heard of anything similar or a 'nurse relocation package'.
