Who here is from the UK ? What's your story ? When did you apply and what's your timeline been so far ?

We applied in September 2001, got AOR in November, did medicals in May and paid ROLF in August. Since then heard nothing.

I'm assuming that by being asked to go for medicals, we don't have to have an interview ?

We're hoping to head to Vancouver or surrounding area.

Anyone else from the UK ?

Hi,

I'm from the UK, landed here August 2001 - currently live in Victoria - just the other side of the water from Vancouver. Took us about 8 months from start to finish to get our hands on our visa.

What else do u wan to know ?

Cheers - Steve

Hi Steve

Did you find it easy to get a job out there? We are looking to go to the Toronto area, but our main concern is the availability of jobs.

had an interview arranged before I left the UK through a ontact that was already in Canada. We took a chance on that one interview and I got the job starting 2 months later - which used up a fair bit of cash but was good in another way it was good so we could get all the paperwork out of the way and get familiar with the surroundings.

Not sure what the job situation is like in the eastern half of the country - what's your line of work ?

My husband is in IT Sales. It's all doom and gloom in that area at the moment. Anyway, we are at the very early stages of our application so things could pick up.

Hi,

IT sales eh, I'm a techie (Sun Solaris etc..) The impression I get about the market here in BC is one of uncertainty but Canada is such a huge and diverse place I couldn't even begin to comment on what's going on out East. If I were you I'd get out there and have a look if you could afford the time and expense - it's not that long a flight from the UK - before leaving the UK for good.

Cheers - Steve
