Hi there people. . . . .

The reason for this thread is that I totally disillusioned with the UK the reason being they are too busy helping others when they should be putting their own house in order, unemployment and homelessness just to name two, but there are lots more as you can well imagine, did I mention the upcoming EU in/out referendum, I won’t even go on about the Junior Doctors fiasco.

I ran my own very successful Mechanical & Electrical (M & E) Contracting business which had a multimillion dollar turnover till the UK recession kicked in and I closed it down, so I had to lay off all my personnel.

The reason for this thread is I want to move to Canada as I have visited here several times and absolutely love the place and the culture.

I will NOT be looking for any Canadian assistance.

I have been on various websites to see what is required in terms of obtaining a Visa.

I have even taken a mock CELPIP test to see if my grasp of English is up to Canadian standards and from what I can gather if that had been a real test I would have passed easily.

I think this might not only be down to the qualification that I have which had to be taken in English as you can well imagine but also the fact that whilst running my Company I had to write various documents "Risk Assessment", Method Statements and Invoices and that just name a few.

I have the qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience and I want to work.

So the only conclusion that I can come to is to let people / Companies know that I am available.

I am even prepared to reimburse any Company that sets me on and they are not satisfied within their trial period.

So in essence if you can give me a heads up that would be good.

I will respond any questions asked.

Basically I am looking to work as a Construction Project Manager or Site Manager anywhere in Canada.
In these categories but not necessarily in this order.

1. Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager (M & E)
2. ElectricalProject Manager
3. Mechanical Project Manager

Or the same but as Site Manager

To any genuine Construction Companies interested I have a full resume and various other documentation for your perusal.

It goes without saying I have full Skype facilities

Welcome to BE. It sounds like you're after a job offer/sponsorship rather than info, so your thread may be better off in the Jobs Wanted section, but you should have a read of the Job Hunting section of the Wiki to see how vital it will be that you get over to Canada to make contact with people yourself, as you're just not likely to find a job offer over the net, particularly in the current economic climate in Canada. I know that you may think your skills are good, but with no Canadian experience, it's going to be tough to sell yourself to a Canadian employer than needs to pay $1000, wait months and go through a lot of hassle and paperwork for you to be able to work for them, particularly with so many Canadians out of work. And then of course, getting the LMIA granted could be tricky given how many Canadians have been laid off in the oil fields and are actively job hunting too.

I would say that the things you've mentioned aren't necessarily going to be improved with a move to Canada (the UK has a much lower unemployment rate than Canada for instance), so don't expect it to be magically better.

So have you tried to match your skill/job title with a NOC code to see what category you fall into as far as assessing skills ?

The Junior Doctors which is the part that you have made bold.

The reason why I say this and I don't want to get off topic, but I feel it only fair as you have raised it.

If you are injured and it is not within your "First Aid" remit or your GP's remit the first place you turn to is A & E and with out them we as a Country would be struggling severely.

Sounds just like Canada then! Don't expect Canada to be any different if that is your motivation for moving.

Why do you assume Canada will be better?

You're aware that Canada is or has been bordering on recession. There are many people jobless in parts of Alberta because of the price of Oil has plummeted so unemployment is high. Social assistance is probably better in the UK and you'll be lucky to get a Doctor. The NHS is still ranked higher than Canada in terms of healthcare and don't get a certain poster started on how bad the education is here. Come to Canada by all means but the problems are still the same.

Or worse.

unemployment rates are 40% higher in Canada than the UK and climbing.

Rates of homelessness are at least the same if not more than the UK.

Canada gives foreign aid, takes refugees etc like any other first world country. next you will be blaming the immigrants for stealing all the jobs....

My guess is no taxpayer subsidy....social assistance, start-up grants, tax break for relocation, that sort of thing

So, have you calculated points/checked your eligibility for Express Entry (PR)? If so, do you score > 450 without an LMIA?

BTW, you can't pay/reimburse employers' costs for LMIA, it's illegal.
