Arrow UK experience to Canada Pension

Hello,

My British husband worked 14 years in England, how can he transfer/implement these 14 years into his Canadian pension?

Is there any agreement between the two countries? if so, please say more.

thank you very much

He can’t transfer them, but he can claim a British pension when the time comes. He can check what he’ll get here - https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension

He might want to look at making voluntary contributions to top his pension up so he gets a full one - tons of info on the forum you do a search, it’s a very worthwhile investment if he can do it.

HTH.

By far the most active thread on BE on the subject of UK state pensions for expats is here, in the US forum, though AFAICT the info on that thread is fairly generic, except that residents of Canada, in common with most other former British colonies, don't get annual increases (the amount of the pension is fixed at the time it is first drawn).

The linked thread is very long, and I would probably start reading around January 2022 for most of the recent discussions, and only delve further back if you really want to immerse yourself in the topic.

Re: 'the amount of the pension is fixed at the time it is first drawn', just a technicality but the amount is fixed at the date at which you become eligible for the pension. In other words there's no point in delaying taking the money after you reach your state retirement age. If you draw the pension a year or two after reaching state pension age the amount per week is fixed at what it was when first eligible.
