I don't doubt that that is true and, of course, is a risk the applicant accepts.

That may well be the stupidest thing I've read on here.

Very few people under 25 will use an ISP's email service, as gmail/yahoo/hotmail are a much simpler and a much more elegant solution.

Afterall, ISP email services just tend to use one of the above pieces of software and make it worse in some way.

Of course, most will have a work email address too, but why would you apply for jobs with that?

Unless your email address is [email protected] then I can't see what the issue is.

Don't shoot the messenger. What I said is the truth. Stupid perhaps, but no less the case for that. The reason for using a work e-mail address if you're applying for a professional position is thought to be that it shows you're a serious person.

But your current employer could monitor your work email... You don't necessarily want them to know you are job hunting. Maybe this is a generational thing.
