3.2 litres isn't considered a remarkable engine here. In any case vehicle type isn't much of a factor in determining premiums.

$200 isn't very much to pay for car insurance for a driver new to Ontario. I reckon on $1000/year per car.

Start saving - car insurance is expensive here.

I have full no claims discount, am 38yrs old, live rurally, and restrict drivers on my vehicle to over 35yr olds. It costs $1,500 p/yr for insurance.

If you get all your NCB recognized your budget might be OK. If you don't, it could cost considerably more.

In BC, there is only one choice, ICBC. No opportunity to shop around.

Once you become a resident of Ontario you have 60 days to get an Ontario licence, or at least that is what it used to say, the current MTO page doesn't specify a time frame:

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dan...r/exchange.htm

It just tells you that if you are from the UK and have more than 24 months experience of driving in the last 3 years you can swap your licence.

Yes - turn up at licensing centre, get eye test, fill in form, get photo, hand over UK licence and get paper slip in return. Ontario one will come through post in about 6 weeks.

I would say this is reasonable. I have an Acura 3.2TL and pay around $200 a month after 21 years in Canada without an accident or any tickets. But, anyway, try this site:

Try the insurance hotline link, they claim they will find you the best deal. I am sure the rates will differ depending on where you live.

Our insurance on a Kia Sorrento 3.6 (I think, could be making that up... it's a shade under 4L anyway!) went down a few hundred dollars on moving from Manitoba to Ontario... Like you, I thought Manitoba was about as good as it got, but was clearly wrong on that.

I guess we must have been stung in the UK because I think all car insurance we've paid in MB/ON is a bargain
