UK Cigarettes in Calgary

Yes iam a little bit of a smoker. I was wondering if there was any tobacconists who stock Uk cigarettes in particular Regal King Size.

No doubt they cost more but does anyone sell them here?

Thank you in a nicotine advance.

I think you'll be out of luck. I've never seen UK smokes here. You don't see many US tabs either, and they are expensive.

Canadian ciggies are different from UK/US ones. They have traditionally been made from a single type of Virginia grown locally (although some blending now goes on) and the contain no additives. They smell and taste very different to US ones but I don't find them all that different to UK gaspers.

Except Marlboro, they're widely available and cheaper than domestic (non-Indian) cigarettes.

Maybe it's only in cities, they have to be smuggled so I suppose it only happens where there's a big market. Do you have any Chinese or Vietnamese owned stores near you?

I knew, I just knew, you'd pick up on that. Are you talking convenience store Marlboro, or convenient alleyway Marlboro? In no place I've ever been in Canada was there much evidence of Marlboro consumption.

No. 7 Kingsize red.

Is it just me or when you order they never listen to whether you want more than one pack or not?

I often ask for 2-4 packs and they go to their draw pick out one pack scan it at which point I say to them 'I want x number' they proceed to look at me like this . At which point I put my fat little digits in front of their faces indicating how many I would like...

The warning on the packets are right cigarettes kill cause people are too dumb to listen to me when i buy them :curse:

It used to be that they were "under the counter" Marlboro but now all cigarettes are under the counter.

Oh yes. There should be a law requiring shop staff selling ciggies to be smokers themselves.

That would be positive discrimination.

Smoking can only be discriminated against if it has a negative effect to society;)

I haven't smoked for a long time now but many years ago when the earth was still green you could get a few English brands.

I smoked Players Medium for years here in Canada and you could also get Senior Service. I switched to Export and the the filter version Export "A" then quite in the mid eighties.

I have no idea when they stopped selling the English ones and I'm not sure that you can get Export or Export "A" these days.

That brand is still around and, I think, quite popular. Note that I say "brand". The tobacco is probably very different to what you knew.

I worked with a few smokers in Toronto, they never had any trouble finding Marlboros in Chinatown. An amusing moment was when we had a visitor to the lab (from Spain). I took her to one of the Chinese stores on Dundas, and she asked the person at the counter if they had cigs... he reached under the counter and produced a pack of Marboros... I had to explain later what was going on.
