hi there
We arrived in March and i was given a Open work Permit for two years, had some conditions on it and one was that i wasnt able to work with children until i had my medical and police check done.
Just to let you all know its not hard to change. I have my medical booked in for 14th August, have to wait a few weeks for the medical to get onto the computer systems, then send my police check off to UK, once i get all that back, send my forms in and thats it. TWP conditions gets changed and i can then help out at my kids schools and i am then open my dayhome.
Thanks Lisa dd

Hi Lisa
Thats great news, I'm glad things are looking positive for you.
Where are you planning to open the Dayhome, I know some people who are coming over in October and they will be looking for a Dayhome.

Hi Lisa,
Just out of curiosity, how much did your medical cost? I too have the same restrictions on my TWP and it's driving me a bit crazy. I was a teaching assistant (special needs) back in the UK and I was hoping to get into the CBE here in Calgary asap. I actually went to an information meeting yesterday only to realise that I was going to have to change my TWP etc. I knew I'd have to at some point but didn't want to do it as soon as we came here just in case I would have to do another one if offered a job by the CBE....I have booked in with a consultant who will charge $150 then it will cost $37 for my blood test and another $30 for chest x-ray....the funny thing is that I'm more likely to catch something from the little 'sweethearts'.....not the other way around!
As much as I love it here in Calgary, I do think it's a bit daft...
Anyway, good luck with the dayhome! Hope it all goes well!

Hi Again!
Don't know what's going on but I can't seem to access the PM you sent me. I haven't exactly been active on this forum so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it?
