Default Twilio - make calls to the UK

Hi everyone,

A friend of mine came across this service and sent me the link. It's called twilio (www.twilio.com). I checked their prices and they seem not bad compared to Skype's rates.

Rates from Canada to UK:
United Kingdom 2¢ / min
44, 4420, 44203, 44207, 44208

United Kingdom 5¢ / min
44751, 44754, 44756, 44759, 447400, 447401, 447402, 447403+

United Kingdom 32¢ / min
447

United Kingdom 36¢ / min
448

United Kingdom 38¢ / min
4470

Has anyone used them before?

I tried Skype once we got to Canada, found it to be useless. The call quality was bad, and it frequently dropped out. This was despite being on a high speed cable internet service. I did a lot of browsing and went with CallCentric instead (www.callcentric.com). So far, it's been great! I have an app on my mobile, calls are always clear, always connect and never drop, no problems so far

I use a cici-Euro card. Only 1c a minute to UK landlines and 16c to UK mobiles. Calls never drop out and you pay by the minute. No connection charge either. I have used this card for about 3 years and have an auto top-up when my account goes down below $5.

I use Skype but only free webcam part.

I also use callcentric, have done for about 3 years .. bought a linksys PAP2 on ebay

half of these low call systems are just voip systems anyway

I use this http://www.comwave.net/residential-ephone/ and have the app on my iPod. Call quality is great.

It works out about $0.018 a minute to landlines and $0.18 to mobiles. 0845 etc are charged at the landline rate from my experience.

Also the person you call could download the app and obtain a Canadian number. Then you can call each other unlimited for free as you can any other US or Canadian number.

Skype is generally a good experience but sometimes I would rather just call someone than arrange to be at the computer and sit in front of the webcam.
