I have two bits of advice for anyone considering shipping a tv over, especially if its just for everyday viewing:
1) Don't 2) Buy a tv here (a cheap one will probably cost less than to ship one over) and a $30 multiregion DVD player along with it. Alot of the karaoke capable dvd players play UK (region 2) DVDs. For less than $350 I have a cheap 32" LCD TV courtesy of Canadian tire and a DVD player that plays all my UK DVDs. If you're kids are not going to question the lack of 1080HD you'll be fine. |

If you recently bought a spanking great 1080p machine in the UK with dual voltage capability built in, and are shipping a 40' container anyway, the incremental cost of shipping a TV is zero. Weve done the same, taken 2 tvs bought a step down transformer 110/220 3000 watt, we put the tv on and the standby light comes on but it will not play videos or switch on, any one tell me what i am doing wrong?
