Default Tri-cities - good to live?

Am thinking of moving to Port Moody, Anmore, Heritage Mountain areas. Does anyone know of these areas - are they safe? Are schools reasonable? Crime etc?

Thanks.

Been living in Coquitlam for nearly two years, very happy. 7 year old at local elementary school. Looking to move to Anmore for a bigger plot. The commute to downtown is fine

I like Anmore but it seems even farther than PM - do you have a good agent you would recommend who knows the areas?

Thanks,

PS I looked up one of the PM schools - and it has a rating of 5.. argh

Anmore is nice but I don't think it has a good public transit or shopping facilities close by. Better to find a place with easy access to the Evergreen line for Port Moody.

there are buses down to port Moody but you are reliant on a car for most things. There is a tiny shop by the Butane lake entrance but its mainly snacks and ice cream!

If you mean the Fraser Institute ratings then be aware that the FI is a very right-wing think tank that has an agenda to promote the private provision of what most would consider public services. Ofsted it is not.

My wife and I are also in Coquitlam, ( Burke Mountain ). I know a couple of estate agents here that I'd be happy to put you in touch with. Just send me a message.
Transit is laughable.

don't trust the Fraser institute rankings. They are not objective, they are just shit stirrers. Also bear in mind what % of the kids don't sit the tests BECAUSE of the rankings - they'll show you that too. If 20% of kids aren't sitting the tests the scores aren't meaningful anyway

I Like Port moody. Heritage mountain is fine. Just be aware if you're above the snow line, getting out will be tricky in winter, and will impact your commute. I have no opinion on Anmore except it's bloody far away and no real amenities (or transit).

If you like rain, you'll like those areas. Like living in Bridlington but with less beach and dirtier water.

Nor Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. I googled Tri-Cities and seems I was not wrong either...

True!

An ultra-right wing Institute .......... always take any of their studies with a huge pinch of salt.

Never heard of any of them, but it's safe to assume that schools are reasonable, although often not very, and there's sure to be enough crime.
